Logitech Unifying Receiver app

Logitech Unifying Software is a utility software that lets users add or remove compatible Logitech mice, keyboards, and other devices to their unifying receiver. With the use of this program, you can pair your old receiver to new computer peripherals. The app is free to download and use and allows connections with up to six devices. However, there has been no update to the software for quite some time now, and the instructions for pairing are quite confusing.

What is Logitech Unifying Software?

The Logitech Unifying receiver is a small device based on the nRF24L-family of RF devices. It is a small dedicated USB receiver, which connects your wireless peripheral devices to your computer. However, unlike the usual wireless connector, this receiver allows up to six compatible Logitech human interface devices. With this, you don’t have to use up all your USB ports to connect your mouse, keyboard, and headphone to your PC.

Receivers are usually bundled together with a Logitech product at the factory. With this, you only have to plug in the receiver to start using the peripheral you bought. However, if you lose or break the paired peripheral device, this does not mean that you have to buy another set. You can download the Logitech Unifying Software and pair your new device to your old receiver.

To use the app, launch it before plugging in the receiver. Then, click the Configure button and select the number of devices that you would like to pair. You can select any combination, as long as it does not exceed six devices. There is an on-screen instruction when pairing each device. As noted, the instructions can be a bit confusing. More than that, you can only pair one device at a time.

Unify your Logitech devices

If you use compatible Logitech devices, then having Logitech Unifying Software is a big help. With this, you can pair your peripherals to your receiver regardless of whether they come as a bundle or as a separate unit. However, while it can support multiple connections, the pairing process can take some time. Not only does the instructions a bit hard to follow, but it also requires you to pair the devices one by one.

PROS

  • Allows you to add or remove peripherals to the receiver
  • Can pair compatible devices to any unifying devices

CONS

  • Pairing instruction can be confusing
  • Requires users to pair devices one by one
  • No recent update
